Silaplane™ is a reactive polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) having reactive functional groups at one or both ends of the linear siloxane chain.

Usage Examples of Silaplane™

01 — Synthesis of Silicone Modified Polyurethane Resin

FM-DA series, since it has hydroxy groups, can form urethane bonds by reacting with various isocyanates.

Reaction Example:

FM-DA26
Reaction example showing the synthesis of a silicone-modified polyurethane resin using Silaplane™ (サイラプレーン®).Silaplane™ (サイラプレーン®) is a reactive silicone macromonomer; adding a small amount (1–5% )of it during resin formation imparts water repellency, stain resistance, slip properties, and durability to the resin. Silaplane™ (サイラプレーン®) can be applied to coating agents, synthetic leather, and resins for building materials.
Imparted Characteristics:
  • Slip Properties
  • Abrasion Resistance
  • Water/ Oil Repellency

Application Example:
Artificial Leather

02 — Synthesis of Silicone Modified Acrylic Resin

FM-07 series can be polymerized with various vinyl monomers since it has a methacryloxy group.

Reaction Example:

FM-0721
This is an example of a reaction for synthesizing silicone-modified acrylic resin using Silaplane™ (サイラプレーン®)FM-0721. By adding a small amount (0.2-5%) of Silaplane™ (サイラプレーン®)during resin modification, silicone properties such as water repellency, stain resistance, and slip resistance can be imparted to the resin, resulting in surface modification effects. Silaplane™(サイラプレーン®) is used in paints, coatings, and functional surface treatment materials.
Imparted Characteristics:
  • Slip Properties
  • Antifouling Properties
  • Water/ Oil Repellency

Silicone modified acrylic resin has water and oil repellency and can be used as an alternative to PFAS.

03 — Use of Silaplane™(Silicone) as filler dispersant

When used as a filler dispersant, FM-04/0815J has the effect of lowering the viscosity of filler dispersion liquids and improving the filler filling rate.

Reaction Example:

FM-04/DA/0815J
This is an example of making filler-dispersed silicone resin by mixing Silaplane™ (サイラプレーン® ) FM-04, FM-DA, and FM-0815J with silicone resin and inorganic fillers. Adding a small amount( 0.2-3wt% in experimental results ) of Silaplane™ (サイラプレーン® ) improves the dispersibility of inorganic fillers such as silica, alumina, and aluminum nitride, contributing to high filler loading (experimental results show a loading rate of 85–95wt%). Silaplane™(サイラプレーン® ) is used to enhance the performance of silicone compositions for thermal interface materials (TIM) and electronic materials.
