JNC CORPORATION (head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, CEO & President: Yasuyuki Goto) announces the development of a new organic EL material by joint research with Professor Takuji Hatakeyama of KWANSEI GAKUIN UNIVERSITY (Nishinomiya, Hyogo, President: Osamu Murata), which has been adopted for use in smartphones for a major display manufacturer.

The jointly developed organic EL material is a blue luminescent material characterized by a new structure which is completely different from the conventional materials. The new blue luminescent material has a main skeleton of a boron atom-containing heterocyclic structure, and the width of the wavelength of light luminesced by applying a voltage is narrower as compared to the conventional materials. Accordingly, the loss of energy luminesced can be suppressed, and low energy consumption can be achieved.

The joint research of Professor Hatakeyama and JNC CORPORATION started in 2011, and numerous organic EL materials have been produced, such as the development of blue luminescent material for organic EL displays in 2016 having the world's highest luminous efficiency and color purity. Moreover, we are currently developing a material which can be applied to the new type of organic EL devices, and will continue to contribute to the development of organic EL displays by providing products with high efficiency and high material stability.

JNC CORPORATION plans to manufacture the organic EL material resulting from this joint development in the Minamata Factory in Kumamoto.
