AOAC Official Method Analysis (OMA)
AOAC is officially AOAC international, an American academic
organization on analytical methods for food, pharmaceuticals,
fertilizer/feed, and cosmetics. It is an international certification that can
be possessed only by analytical methods that have been evaluated by a
high-level protocol relating to the validation of analytical methods
including microbial detection and identification methods. AOAC has a long
history, and many national standard laws, including the United States, use
analytical methods validated by AOAC.
There are two types of AOAC certification: Official Method Analysis
(OMA) and Performance Tested Method (PTM). OMA is a certification as an
analytical method that can be an international standard test method like
AFNOR, MicroVal, and NordVal.

PTM is a certification called a performance-validated test method,
and is evaluated not only analysis accuracy, reproducibility, detection
limit, false positive and false negative of analysis results, but also
storage stability as a kit, lot difference, robustness of results.
