Launch of Sample Introduction of Nanofiber Product

June 20, 2011

JNC CORPORATION will launch sample introduction of the nanofiber product "Elfa (under application for trademark registration)" made by an electrospinning method, in July 2011.

The nanofibers have a diameter of several ten to several hundred nanometers (one nonometer = one-millionth millimeter), which drastically increases the surface area as a result of the microscopic size, and thus new characteristics have been discovered such as improvement in efficiency as an adsorbent and transparent appearance, which have not been found in the conventional fibers. Consideration for application of the nanofibers to air filters or fillers for transparent films or the like has begun in various fields such as electronic materials, filtration and medical care by utilizing these physical properties. On the other hand, the establishment of systems capable of stably providing the products with high quality is strongly desired.

In order to respond to these requests, the Corporation will install a pilot production line for "Elfa (under application for trademark registration)" at the Moriyama Plant (Shiga, Moriyama) and launch the sample introduction. In this line, nanofiber nonwoven fabric rolls with a maximum width of 1 meter can be produced, and thus wide samples can be provided. Moreover, the nanofibers can be made from various kinds of resins such as polyvinylidene difluoride (PVDF), polylactic acid (PLA) and nylon, and further nano-sized ultrafine particles can be also produced.

JNC CORPORATION has accumulated, over a period of time, the technology and knowledge on thermo-bondable composite fibers (ES Fiber) for which commercialization has been successfully completed for the first time in the world in 1972. As a pioneer of fibers and nonwoven fabrics, we will also contribute to people's rich and convenient life styles in the field of nanofiber products.

In addition, we will exhibit the sample products on Friday July 8th from 3:30PM to 7:00PM, in the poster exhibition of "The 3rd Industry-Government-Academia Collaboration Meeting" under the auspices of All Nippon Nonwoven Association (Diamond Hall, Taiko-en, Osaka).
