The core business of JNC Group includes manufacturing, selling and research & development of liquid crystal materials and organic EL materials which are essential to a highly information-oriented society. At the same time, we also regard the environment and energy groups as an important business domain and own run-of-river type hydraulic power stations (total maximum output of 93,200 kW) in 13 locations in the
Our Company has maintained the power generation capacity of the hydraulic power stations by renovating obsolescent facilities based on long-term planning. The oldest, Shirakawa Power Station, will celebrate the 100th-year anniversary in November 2014 since its foundation. While the social demand for clean energy increasingly grows, our Company has sequentially promoted renovation of the hydraulic power stations so as to reinforce their power generation capacity in order to realize a stable supply of electric power.
Now, subsequent to five power stations already under renovation, our Company will also execute the large-scale renovation of Shirakawa Power Station and Takachiho Power Station. We will achieve high efficiency of water wheels, power generators and so forth to increase the maximum output and the annual generation amount while keeping the approved water intake amount at the present level. We will give sufficient consideration to the peripheral environment upon the renovation.
Hydraulic power generation is a precious, purely domestically produced energy having low carbon dioxide emission and which is friendly to the environment. Our Company will take advantage of the power generation technologies cultivated so far to develop business activities with consideration for the natural environment and regional communities, and will contribute to the society by supplying stable clean energy in future years.
